The goal of Mindful Parenting is to support parents in their parenting, by cultivating present-moment and non-judgmental attention for the child, the parent-child relationship, and parenting, by dealing differently with parenting stress, by focusing on the reality and accepting it for what it is, and by becoming aware of automatic patterns of reacting tot heir children and how these are related tot their own experiences in their family of origin, and by taking better care of themselves as parents.

BY CAR
A-road from Florence: go south on route SR 69 following the indications for Pontassieve. About 6 km after Pontassieve, turn left toward Vallombrosa/Donnini at the intersection. Follow the indications for Donnini, then turn right toward Reggello. You will see the sign for the Cares House after passing through San Donato in Fronzano.
Motorway (A1): exit at Incisa Reggello and follow the indications for Reggello. After Reggello, follow the indications for Donnini/Valleombrosa. After the locality of Pietrapiana, follow the indications for Donnini. You will see the sign for the Cares House on the right after about 1 kilometre.
BY TRAIN
Take a regional train from the Santa Maria Novella train station in Florence to Sant’Ellero (a trip of about 30 minutes), which is about 5 km from the Cares House. Take a Colbus bus from the Sant’Ellero station to the Cares House. If buses are not available, call to request a pick-up at the Sant’Ellero station.



Requirements for participating
Prerequisites are required to participate in the training:
- have participated in an MBSR or MBCT protocol
- have participated in at least one silent retreat
- work in the area of mental health as a psychologist, psychotherapist, social worker, doctor, teacher and clinical pedagogist (only for preventive programs)
- have a regular meditation practice
- a selective eligibility interview
- be psychologists, psychotherapists or doctors.

For Who?
This training event allows learning three types of interventions:
- clinical interventions for parents with children who have conditions of physical, mental or learning difficulties
- preventive interventions for parents who encounter stressful situations in managing relationships with their children
- parenting support interventions for parents with mental disabilities

The Purpose of the Course
This program was developed by Susan Bögels and her colleagues and has lasting and beneficial positive effects on the psychopathology of children and parents, on parental stress, on parental over-reactivity models, on parents’ hypersensitivity.
Participation in this program improves the positive relationship between parents and the relationship of parents with the child. Its effectiveness has been demonstrated both in clinical and experimental settings and is particularly indicated for parents with children who live particular conditions of development. The training in Mindful Parenting – offered for the first time in Italy by our Study Center – has been developed in the last 20 years by Susan Bogels and her collaborators.
Simultaneous translation in Italian
In this five-days and-one-evening intensive is intended for international (mental) health practitioners with a background in mindfulness training and meditation, who want to use Mindful Parenting with their clients. Participants will receive training in both the clinical and preventive program. It is advised to reserve enough time for studying the literature and manual before start of the training, in order to get most out of the training days. The training will be given in English with italian translation.
